Cyclis

The Cyclis game, a mix between Tetris and Cycles which made squared cycles possible.

You win by completing a full squared cycle in the least amount of time possible

Jam infos :

This game was made for the Extra Credits game Jam,

Thanks to the Extra Credits team for putting this jam together and for their wonderful shows.

The theme was Cycles.

We were team of 2 people :

NaejDoree : developped, designed and coordinated the game creation,

Acid : original idea, music and sprite creation.

Challenges :

We choose to take on some official challenges :

Extra Time: Make a game that encourages multiple playthroughs in some way. For example, something like a simple high score system, or something a bit more complex like multiple playable characters. (Credit: happygreenfrog)

The game has a timer as score.

Extra Local: Include at least one reference, major or minor, to your home region or home town/city. (Credit: MarioBG)

The main theme is the French cancan since we're a french team.

Extra Public Domain: Take advantage of the public domain in some shape or form, adding a character, item, or location from it into your game. Bonus points for entirely using public domain assets. (Credit: Pyrian, Timnir)

The French cancan and the font used are public domain, we only created three assets: a white square, a low border and a corner border. All the software used to create this projects are opensource (exept the OS our computer runned on).

But aslo some challenges from the discord:

Extra Colors: Limit your game to a 4-8 color palette, with no interpolation Extra points for less colors (Slime_Cubedmercredi)

Grey, black, white, yellow, red and green : 6 color palette.

Extra FOSS: Use only Free Open Source Software tools, engine, editors etc. and release the source code of your game. (wesu)

The source is not released yet but it'll be in the upcoming week or so (and their are bundled with the exe for now so they're technically public).
